Physical Description

The peak, formed of a single plate, is shaped to the skull, embossed for the passage of the comb and flanged at the lower end to form the peak proper. It is pivoted to associated close helmet (IV.1671) by a modern screw and nut at each side. Bordering the flange are eight round-headed rivets. The main edge of the peak proper originally formerly had a plain inward turn which has been subsequently cropped. A large internal patch is attached by eleven externally flush brass rivets.
