Physical Description

The breech consists of a screw-plug beneath the barrel (similar to XII.257 and XII.595). Barrel stamped with government proof marks and rifled with eight grooves. Folding backsight with brass slide pierced with an aperture, mounted on the breech-strap. Back-action lock with ring-necked cock engraved with scrolling foliage and with the royal cipher. Brass mounts, the scutcheon plate engraved with a shield bearing the royal arms, crowned and surrounded by the Garter. Screw plate shaped and engraved as a winged dragon.
