Acquired from Glencorse Museum, Glencorse Barracks, Penicuik, Edinburgh, via SUSM, Edinburgh Castle, due to MOD closing down the museum, 5 November 1991.

Physical Description

The blade is single edged, slightly curved, and flares to the point. It has a flat back, and the point is angled obliquely. It is crudely decorated with a group of incised eyes near the hilt. The hilt is of wood, with a narrow grip flaring to a cusped pommel. It has a white metal ferrule at the forward end of the grip.
The scabbard is formed of two pieces of wood, carved with a wide, cusped throat, and with a raised, drilled rib for suspension near the throat. It is bound along its length with nine triple bands of dark brown rattan in channels, joined by diagonals at the rear.
