Physical Description

The slender head is fashioned from blackened iron, is of square section and tapers to a point. There is a narrow waist of round section immediately behind the head, which widens to form the faceted plug/tang which fits into the shaft.
The shaft is of round section, made from straight-grained yellow-red wood with a black painted end. The section near the head is spirally bound with red-painted birch-bark to add extra strength and reinforcement.
