Physical Description

The tree is of wood covered with coarse canvas. At the front is a high pomel, sloping down to either side. At the rear is a high cantle, curving forward to either side. The seat and skirt are of crimson velvet with the edges bordered by metal braid. Associated saddle steels have been attached.
The pommel steels consists of three plates with sunken borders and roped edges and decorated with three flutes splaying fromthe lower edge of the central plate. The cantle steels consist of two plates. The rear cantle plates do not meet at the top of the cantle leaving a sizeable gap.
A later panel has been added to the under side.
