Physical Description

The blade is single edged and flares to the point. It has a flat back, a medial ridge, and the point is angled obliquely. It is crudely decorated with a band of incised cross hatching. The hilt is of wood, bound with rattan on the grip, and is carved with a stylised animal head at the pommel. The latter is carved with simple scrolls and stained red.
The scabbard is formed of two pieces of wood, carved with a cusped section containing stylised animal heads at the chape. Near the throat is a carved and undercut section for the rattan suspension loop, and there is another carved section at the throat. It is bound along its length with dark brown rattan in channels, and just below the centre has a decorative band of light and dark brown woven rattan. The suspension loops are formed of woven rattan cord.
