Purchased from the Beriah Botfield collection at Norton Hall, Northamptonshire, with the aid of the National Art Collections Fund in 1942 (Norton Hall No. 386)

Physical Description

Consists of seven ribbed flanges attached to a circular section shaft and surmounted by a short spike. The flanges contain streaks and slashes of brazing metal. Above the grip is a roped moulding, the grip itself is encircled by incised lines at the bottom is a cap-like pommel. Above the grip is a piercing for a cord.
