Physical Description

Of crimson velvet lined with linen onto the back of which are riveted vertical rows of tinned rectangular iron plates, the rivets heads gilt to contrast with the crimson velvet. The garment is in two parts to be joined with laces at the sides of the body and on the shoulders. The neck and arm holes are scalloped and a pair of tassets of the same construction as the body are attached by laces to the skirt of the front part. The whole had been much patched and repaired.
