Provenance

Old Tower collection; probably Towewr arsenal. First registered on return from loan to Military Vehicles and Engineerijng Establishment, Langcross, Chertsey, Surrey (Loan L128), 28 October 1993.

Physical Description

General Type Description: Straight, brass stirrup-guard, shield-shaped langets, and rear quillon with disc-finial inclined towards the blade; back-piece and pommel in one, with raised, shaped section around the tang-button. Ribbed, wooden grip, shaped to the hand, and covered with fish-skin.


Straight or nealy straight unfullered blade, with ricasso and terminating in a clipped point.


Variations, losses, damage, etc: a few impact marks to inside of base of knuckle-guard and rear quillon; inside langet bent very slightly towards blade.
