Notes

Part of a burgonet with buffe possibly for Fransesco Maria I of Guidobaldo II della Rovere of Urbino. The peak of the burgonet, signed by Filippo and Francesco Negroli and also dated 1538, is in the Bargello, Florence, 17.771. The cheek-pieces are in the Wallace Collection, A.206-7. The buffe was formerly thought to have belonged to the Emperor Charles V and to have been stolen from the Real Armeria in Madrid in the 19th century.
