Physical Description

The defence is of tubular form, made in two pieces hinged on the outside and fastened by a sprung stud on the inside. The cuff edge has a roped inward turn with a recessed border. The upper edge has two rivets for the internal leathers connecting it to the couter. The defence is decorated with etched bands with 'stippled leaf' ornament, and includes a pair of pelicans in the main band. At the cuff is a pair of pierced holes, probably for attachment on display of a gauntlet.
