Physical Description

The outer surface is engraved at the centre with the royal monogram GR in acanthus scroll-work surmounted by a royal crown and flanked on each side by a branch of laurel that issues from base of the initials. The flanged edges of plate have plain inward turns. Inner surface is coloured black.
Retains a pair of black suspension loops and rosettes which are threaded through holes that pierce the tips of the horns of crescent.

Found with XVI 154, 163, 181 in store 4 of New Armouries in a box marked 254 in cupboard 1, and unnumbered: Jan 1981. Believed to be formerly III 1360, acquired from Leeds in 1967. Not mentioned in Loan 200 to National Army Museum, nor in Wallis and Wallis, Sale 136, Lewes, 18 Jan 1967.
