Physical Description

It is formed of one piece front and rear, with a raised neck and a point at the centre of the lower front, rounded at the lower rear. The main edges have plain inward turns with recessed borders. The plates are joined by a rivet at the left, and by a stud and keyhole slot at the right. At either side of the neck of the rear plate are filled rivet holes where pauldron straps were attached, for mounting the gorget with a cuirassier armour. The surface is black from the hammer. There is a large riveted repair at the right shoulder of the front plate, and two drilled suspension holes at either side of the front plate.
