Physical Description

Engraving of military firearms newly arranged in the two rooms on the top floor of the White Tower, with a brief note announcing the opening of the 'New Armoury in the Tower' in the 'Banqueting Hall' and the 'Council Chamber'. 'Hitherto, they have been used as storerooms, and the present alteration was made at the suggestion and from the designs of the late Prince Consort. They now form two splendid armouries, the Council Chamber containing 20,000 and the Banqueting Hall 31,000 Enfield and short rifles, ready at any time for immediate use.'
