Physical Description

It is unusually heavy and comprises only two scales of rectangular form and terminal plate pierced with a keyhole slot, each attached by four rivets with square internal washers to a buff leather strap. Each edge is bordered by a double incised line decoration. The terminal plate is stepped to accommodate the base of the leather strap and narrows down to a rough point at which there is a rivet retaining outside fragments of a prehensible leather tab by means of which the keyhole slot was fitted on the breastplate. One or more scales are missing from its upper edge, including that for the attachment to the backplate.
