Physical Description

The upper part, of rectangular form, is stepped to accommodate the base of the buff leather strap, which is retained by four rivets with square internal washers. The lower part has a keyhole slot and tapers to a rough point at which there is a rivet with a square internal washer retaining, on the inside, fragments of a prehensible leather tab, by means of which the keyhole slot was fitted over a stud on the breastplate. The edges are plain. Three or more scales are missing from its upper edge, including that for the attachment to the backplate.
