Physical Description

Portrait of an unidentified man, half-length, facing quarter right, with dark curled long hair, wearing full armour, without gauntlets, with a white collar, tied with tasselled cords turned over the gorget. He is holding a pistol, with a flintlock (? snaphance lock) and a barrel with three set of mouldings at the muzzle.
Oil on canvas.
State: some paint loss, esp. a small patch on face. Small cut in the canvas, lower left, just below the sitter's right pauldron.
Frame: Outer frame has lost most of its gold, but the inner frame mouldings are reasonably complete.
