Hand-coloured. etched cartoon, by George Cruikshank, inscribed: 'Ancient Military Dandies of 1450 - sketch'd by permission from the Originals in the Grand Armoury at the GOTHIC HALL, Pall Mall. Modern Military Dandies of 1819 - sketched without permission from the Life - ' 'Etched by G. Cruikshank' 'Pubd. Feby. 8th 1819 by G. Humphrey, 27 St. James's Street London.' Shows a group of extravagantly uniformed military men, accompanied by a fashionable female with a 'Catalogue of the Armour', admiring three complete armours displayed under Gothic arcading.

Notes

The display of armour at the Gothic Hall had originally been shown at the Oplotheca in Lower Brook Street (see also I.81) in 1817 and was transferred and shown at the Gothic Hall from 1818-182?. The central armour shown is probably intended for that of Albert the Giant of Bavaria, No. 18 in the Catalogue.
