Physical Description

The head is long, and widens into barbs at the base where it is reinforced at either side with thin sheets of iron each with a leaf-shaped terminal. The blade tapers to a heavily reinforced point, has a pronounced medial ridge and is riveted to the flattened ends of a split tang into which it is set. The broken haft is now short and thick, and has a brass socket with mouldings and a circular plate with engraved, down-turned edge which fits closely below the head. A circle of purple silk tassels is attached to a cord that encircles the socket. There is also a cord tied around the socket that ends in multiple tassels.
