Physical Description

It is comprised of twelve Brass (or copper?) scales of irregular rectangular form attached to a linen strap by means of a thin copper(?) wire which passes through six small holes at the top end of each scale. The lower edge of each scale is decorated with five scallops, the end ones being narrower than the inner three. The strap is of maroon fabric bordered with a blue piping fabric sewn on in the back. The upper extremity of the strap is rounded. The red colouring has faded. Many of the original scales are now missing and most of those remaining show age and patination.
