Physical Description

The spear head is slender with a slight medial ridge, a long, tapering point and bevelled shoulders. It has a short tang, with small notches filed at the junction of the blade head and tang. The hammer marks are quite visible on the head. The wooden haft is covered entirely in woven wire mesh which creates an effect of spiralling metal ridges down its length. The haft flares out slightly towards the butt, which has a separated disc of woven wire wrapping. The butt is fitted with a secondary blade or spike which is of the same shape as the main blade, but is much smaller and somewhat cruder in appearance.
