Consisting of a blue jacket with seperate sleeves and shoulder guards, decorated with gilt rivets, and dragons. Cheekpieces with XXVI-135A. Left shoulder guard missing. The rivets retain iron plates inside the armour.
A tag survives, inscribed 'E2144, given by Wm. Greig, 55th Regt, 1846'. This looks remarkably like a Bristol Museum tag, and it may be from that collection via Robinson. The 55th Westmoreland Regiment served in China in 1840-42 in the 1st Opium War, receiving battle honours for Tinghai, the Bogue Forts, Amoy, Chusan, Chinhai, Ningpo and Nankin.
