Physical Description

It has a deep cut out at the neck, shallow arm-openings and a medial ridge terminating just above the inward angled waist, which has a flange that deepens towards its centre. The neck opening is outward flanged. The arm openings, the sides and the waste flange have plain inward-turns. The edges were originally bordered by thirty-four large, brass rivets, of which the two at each shoulder seem to have been of flat-headed form, and the remainder are of high round headed form. The outer rivet at each shoulder is now missing as are the central rivets below the neck and the waist. Two buttons below the right and left arm openings are also missing. At each side of the chest is riveted a mushroom-shaped brass stud to engage the shoulder-straps of the backplate. Bright with scratches around the medial ridge.
