Upper part: Sotheby sale of 1 July, 1965, lot 170. Lower part: From the library of Sir James Mann, Master of the Armouries, 1939-1962. Previously in the collection of Guy Laking, sold at Christies 23 April, 1920. Before that in the collection of Paul Sandby.

Physical Description

Pen and ink drawing on paper, a design for the decoration of a back plate, in the style of Etienne Delaune. Divided into two parts at some time before 1798, when the lower part was engraved. (See I.62/2)
Restored and remounted as a single design, 1976/7.
