Physical Description

The lock has a long serpentine formed in one with the trigger lever and pivoted externally. The tail of the serpentine passes through a slot in a copper disc with a scalloped edge nailed to the side of the stock. The butt is short, with a sharp downward curve forming a pistol-grip, and the butt and stock are painted pink. The iron barrel is octagonal at the breech becoming round and is held into the stock by an iron band at the breech and two bindings of wire, one missing. There is no provision for a ram rod, no sights and the pan cover is missing.

Dimensions: The length of the barrel is 1440 mm, the overall length of the gun being 1560 mm. Weight: The weight of the gun is 5.35 kg.

Inscriptions and Marks

Stamped in the stock is MA 2404 whilst under the forend is the number 17 over 46 in white paint.
