Physical Description

Barrel, octagonal at the breech where it is decorated with scrolling foliage engraved and gilt. Back action lock engraved and guilt on suite with the barrel. Further forward there is a long panel etched with foliage which appears to have been bright, the rest of the barrel being originally blued, the whole of the decoration resembling that found on contemporary sword blades. The breech is stamped with government viewers’ marks and on the underside with Birmingham proof marks and with the name T. BARNSLEY. Stock with long fore-end and brass mounts engraved with foliage. Ramrod with brass tip and capped worm.
