Physical Description

Similar in design to No.XIX.22, though larger and more ornamental. In each the reinforce is octagonal, and the mouldings at base ring and muzzle are prominent and elaborate. The surface is decorated with three bands of pointed triangular ornament springing from the mouldings. In place of buttons the cascabels have hollow sockets for wooden traversing levers. Each has, or had, a fore sight at the muzzle (one is missing) and a back sight in the form of a raised knob on the reinforce. There are shoulders for hinged covers on either side of the vents, but the covers have never been fitted
