Physical Description

The lock is of European type with a swan-necked cock, the frizzen spring being fitted with a wheel and the face of the steel being grooved. The stock is covered with silver gilt and embossed with foliage and strapwork, the details picked out in niello. It has a heavy muzzle cap, a false ramrod and a small ball-butt. The barrel is of bright steel, of round section towards the muzzle and octagonal at the breech. The section towards the muzzle is lightly chiselled with a fluted rib, the top of the breech engraved with floral sprays and a garbled inscription. The trigger and guard are en-suite with the lock.
