Physical Description

The head is flat and leaf shaped with a medial rib. There is a ferrule at the top of the haft, which is of bamboo with a small, rounded lead weight at the butt.

Notes

Brigadier John Scott-Coburn served in the 4th Hussars in India from 1922-45. He won the Kadir Cup blue riband for hog-hunting on Cardew in 1924, 1925 and 1927. From 1928-37 he was editor of the 'Hoghunters' Annual' with Captain Nugent Head. He died in 1979. This spear may be the light 'Kadir Cup' spear mentioned in his correspondence.
