Physical Description

With hammer head. Head of steel, consisting of a hammer head divided into three inward curving claws, engraved with a chevron pattern of double lines and balaced at the rear by a stiff, straight pick of diamond section. The head is secured by a steel strap passing over it and down either side of the modern wooden haft, with four domed nails each side. A top blade is made in one piece with the strap, with a cusp each side at the base of the blade. A conical iron shoe has a domed rivet at each langet.

Inscriptions and Marks

The pick bears a mark inlaid in copper on one of the top sides near the base: a crown over X with roundle at the intersection.
