Physical Description

It has a low, deep neck and a medial keel terminating in a point at the waist which is level and has a narrow flange. The arm and neck edges have plain inwardly turned, and bordered by a single incised line. At either side of the chest is a swivel-hook , only the right one survives, inside a pierced stud for fastening the shoulder straps. At either side of the flange are pierced studs for the hasps for the tassets. The flange is painted black.

Inscriptions and Marks

Stamped at the neck with a crowned IR, for the Arsenal of James II. Also a makers mark, probably combined DC, 6 and possibly another number (1?).
