Notes

For general information on this type of spear and for lists of other examples in the collection, arranged by [sub]-type, see entry for VII.82.
A pike found with the same inv. no., VII.85 in 1999, was renumbered VII.4118. The inv. no. VII.85 on the pike is in fact an old number, probably the Hewitt number: see also entry for VII.4118, under Notes. (PJL, 23/01/03).
