Physical Description

Straight black leather scabbard, unlined, tapering to tip with dark patinated steel top-locket and chape. The top-locket is fitted over a piece of black patinated metal, extending 83 mm (3 1/4 in) beyond it, riveted along the inside edge, which in turn fits over the leather. Top-locket with integral reinforced mouthpiece and oval stud for frog suspension. There is a hole on the inside face of the locket 25.4 (1 in) from edge. Plain chape with square-cut end.
Steel mounts show signs of pitting.
