Physical Description

Straight, wood-lined, brown pig-skin scabbard stitched down the front edge. Flared, plated mouthpiece, fitted inside mouth; asymmetrical leather shoe. Strap for frog-suspension, with two 'button' holes, is sewn to a transverse band which passes round the scabbard, and which divides at the outside to pass either side of a transverse, raised rib in the scabbard, with a single 'button' hole, thus securing it. A second strap for frog-suspension is attached to a similar, but undivided, transverse band, which is lodged purely by friction further down the scabbard (this piece may not belong). A small tatty loop of leather is attached to the scabbard by a loop of wire.
