Physical Description

Stiff, lozenge-section top spike; axe-head with straight cutting edge, small circular piercings adjoin the upper edge a split T is pierced near the centre. A trefoil is pierced on the down-curving rear fluke; the square socket has been repaired; two langets, modern haft.

With fretted 'Tau' mark.

Notes

Dr. J.A. Meier visited Armouries, 2 November 1982 and suggested that this was an Austrian halberd, Styrian, of the mid 16th century. The trefoil mark is typical of this type (BC, 06/01/83).
