Physical Description

A steel plate, with two cut-outs on diagonally opposite corners and which function as the gauging datum. The cut-outs themselves are of rectangular profile, open on two sides, and having a clearance undercut in the corner to allow the component being gauged to have free access to the datum faces. No dimensions are indicated but the gauging portions are marked E and F. The exact meaning of these designations are not known but the wide discrepancy in the sizes of these cut-outs would indicate that they are for gauging different aspects of the same component, rather than acting as limits for one aspect only
