Physical Description

Pointille decoration on the blade. Long, cleaver-like blade, the upper section divided to form a straight top-spike and a curved hook which continues the line of the cutting edge. Near the middle of the back there is a straight triangular spike above which the back is unsharpened. The rear-spike is flatened and cusped at its base. The blade tapers from the centre towards each end. Above the socket at the base of the blade are two horizontal spikes. The head has two short langets. Punched (pointille) decoration on the opposite faces of the blade illustrate St. Sebastian and, on the other, a standing martyr(?)-saint holding a cup, probably St John. Replacement haft.

Inscriptions and Marks

Three six-pointed star marks are stamped on the outside face at the root of the rear spike.
