Fitted with ring-necked cock. Stocked to 4 1/8 inch of the muzzle. The original browned finish partly remains. Brass furniture. Steel ramrod. Both swivels missing. a hole has been bored out on the right of the butt near the lockplate

Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow (the G of GR very worn) and crown over crossed sceptres. Stamped on right by pan: crown over 18 (crown very worn), and on tang: crown over 2. Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Stamped on cock, buttplate heel and sideplate: 1, and on cock with uncertain possible mark. Sideplate flat stamped: crown over TA. Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped twice with crown over 7, and TA .Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped: crown over [?], crown over ?[] (i.e. struck with two crowns but both numbers uncertain); middle section: \IIII; rear section: T.A ; [II] (i.e. II but uncertain, possibly TT). Ramrod stamped: crown
