Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres. Property mark in centre. Stamped on right by pan: crown over 21, and on tang: crown over ? (number half off edge, crown rubbed and possibly overstrikes another). Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Stamped on inside of cock: S.Sideplate flat stamped: 204 ; cursive C; *. Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped twice with crown over 1, and TB. Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped: crown over [8] (i.e. crown over 8, the 8 uncertain), crown over 2; rear section: I \/ SI (or IS). Ramrod stamped: possible crown; [LS] (i.e. LS but uncertain, could be SH or similar
