Fitted with ring-necked cock. Stocked to 4 1/8 inch of the muzzle. The original browned finish remains. Brass furniture. Steel ramrod. Frizzen spring missing. Gouge on right of butt

Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres; DB stamped between them. Marked on left front of muzzle: XI. Property mark in centre. Stamped on right by pan: crown over [25] (i.e. crown over 25 but 25 uncertain as hald over edge) , and on tang: crown over 12. Stamped on barrel near front of lockplate, T and possible other mark. Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Sideplate flat stamped: 7[6] (ie. 76 but possibly 75); crown over T.A; *. Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark and faint second stamp. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped twice with crown over 7 and T.A. Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped twice with crown over [8] (i.e crown over 8 but 8 uncertain); middle section: [X] I (i.e. X I, the X uncertain); rear section: possible cross paty; T.A.; possible other mark. Ramrod stamped: crown; IG ; dot in circle
