Physical Description

Sleeveless cloth vest stitched around the main edges and across the top of the shoulders. The vest fastens at both sides and the front and rear can be detached from one another. Both front and rear extend to side flaps. The lower front of the vest has a wide longitudinal strip of green Velcro stitched to the outside between two vertical strips stitched to the flaps and having additional cross-stitching. The latter strips attach to similar strips stitched inside the rear side flaps. The rear of the vest is extended additionally into shoulder straps with squares of Velcro on the inside which attach to strips stitched slightly diagonally to the upper part of the front, each of which has a slim tab of Velcro, with vandyked end, stitched to the lower edge and which attaches to a vertical strip on the outside of the rear strap to secure it further.
An additional movable panel affords protection to the upper chest or the stomach. It consists of a roughly 'Y'-shaped panel with a tab of cloth at the tail, stitched between the upper front Velcro strips and having additional cross-stitching. A Velcro strip on the inside of each arm allows it to be secured to a square strip on the inside of each collar wing. When pivoted down via the tab, the strips on the panel each attach to a short longitudinal strip placed above the long lower strip on the outside of the vest and each is provided with a slim tab of Velcro with vandyked end, stitched to the outer edge, which attaches to a vertical strip on the inside of the arm of the panel to secure it further. The top edge is secured with Velcro, providing access to a protective lining. The lining is covered in blue nylon and stitched around the edges. The inside if the lining has a smaller additional layer secured by stitching around its edges through the covering.
A cloth collar, with a square of Velcro on the inside of each wing, is stitched to the rear of the vest. The inside rear has a longitudinal strip of Velcro stitched inside which attaches to a black strip of Velcro attached to a 'T'-shaped protective lining covered in blue nylon and stitched around the edges. The inside of the lining has a smaller additional layer secured by stitching around its edges through the covering.
The inside of the front of the vest has a longitudinal slit across the lower end, secured by Velcro and providing access to a protective lining covered in blue nylon and stitched round the edges. The inside of the lining has a smaller additional layer secured by stitching around its edges through the covering. A short vertical strip of Velcro is stitched inside the front of the vest above the protective panel.
The inside of the rear of the vest has a longitudinal slit across the lower end, secured by Velcro and providing access to a protective lining covered in semi-opaque white nylon and stitched round the edges. The inside of the lining has a smaller additional layer secured by stitching around its edges but inside the covering itself. On the outside a zig-zag pattern of blue stitching is visible through the nylon covering. A short vertical strip of Velcro is stitched inside the rear of the vest below the collar but does not attach to any Velcro strip on the lining, suggesting that the latter is a replacement.
