Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres. Property mark in centre. Stamped on right by pan: crown over 21, and M stamped just forward of it. On tang: crown over Broad Arrow. Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Sideplate flat stamped: 102; horizontal 3 over S1; * Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped twice with crown over 7, and WP .Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped twice with crown over 8 (i.e. struck twice with crown over 8, but all uncertain); middle section: \I; 3; rear section: WP; 5. Ramrod stamped: crown; O&[G] (i.e. O&G, the G uncertain); approximately 6 dots
