Physical Description

Fitted with swan-necked cock, top jaw and top of screw missing. Stocked to 4 1/8 inch of the muzzle. The original browned finish is just visible. Brass furniture, the 2nd ramrod pipe missing. Steel ramrod missing. There is a large hole in the butt, 2 smaller ones on the left, 3 on the stock behind the tail pipe and 1 by the 1st pipe

Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres. Stamped on right by pan: crown over 9 , and on tang: crown over 9 . Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Sideplate flat stamped with uncertain stamp. Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark of crowned Broad Arrow over 180[6] (i.e. crowned Broad Arrow over 1806 but might be 1805) . Underside of butt to right of guard stamped with a crown, any other detail worn away.Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped: crown over [18] (i.e. crown over 18, the 18 uncertain), crown over 0; rear section: III \
