Physical Description

It is of very light weight, with a high, hemispherical skull and a narrow, flat brim, expanding to the centre and turned, and riveted at the lower skull and brim. The main edge has a plain inward turn. The base of the skull is encircled by twelve round headed, apparently decorative, rivets, which perhaps rise up at the rear(?). There is no plume holder. It is bright. There are internal repairs at the rear(?) of the brim and the front(?) of the skull, where there is an extra, unfilled hole. At the rear left of the brim is a crack, with a hole in the base of the skull opposite.

Inscriptions and Marks

There is evidence of a mark, polished out and corroded through, at the left(?) of the brim, possibly a crowned IR.
