Physical Description

It has a round skull rising to a blunt point at its apex and a narrow integral brim turned down slightly at each side. It is made in two halves jopined at the skull by eight rivets within cusps, and at the brim by a single modern rivet. The skull has eight facets and is bordered at its lower edge by sixteen lining rivets with internal square washers retaining fragments of the lining band, of which two at either side also retain substantial fragments of the connecting leathers for the missing cheekpieces. The brim has a plain inward turn accompanied by a recessed border. It is painted black overall. At the rear of the brim is a suspension hole. The brim is slightly buckled at the front and there is a small dent on the right side of the skull.
