Provenance

Transferred via Amnesty 1946 from COD Weedon. (Weedon being the central collection point for all Police forces and surrendered weapons.) Authority for tranfer and issue is under War Office file no. BM/306/46/J.MF57/SA/, recieved February 1948.

Physical Description

Two stage barrel with octagonal breech struck with crowned GP and crowned V and moulded band at the muzzle. The bayonet hollow ground and detached . Steel barrel with browned finish. Trigger guard operates a spring bayonet.
The lock has incised line decoration, the frizzen spring with roller, sliding bolt safety catch; swan-neck cock and signature in script WHEELER. Half stock with chequered small; iron furniture; trigger guard acts as lock for the bayonet mounted beneath the barrel. Steel mounted stock with short fore-end.
