Physical Description

It is of roughly hemispherical form, made in two pieces brazed together around the crown and down the rear. The lower edge is plain and bordered by forty lining holes and a rectangular slot at the rear. It is painted black. At the front right and left are two dents.

The brazed seam at the rear is cut in dovetails; There is some evidence that the edges of the crown seam are also cut in dovetails. These dovetails may actually be retangular tabs overlapping a straight edge and filed down after brazing.
