Physical Description

It is of roughly hemispherical form, with a slightly flattened top. It is made in two pieces, brazed together around the crown and down the rear, and subsequently cut with crude pairs of slits at the front and at either side of the rear. The lower edge is bordered by thirty four lining holes, almost aligned with which, at the front, is pierced a horizontal transverse slot. Between, and level with the tops of the right rear slits is a small pierced hole, possibly for fastening the upturned hat brim. It is painted black.
