Physical Description

The receiver is externally octagonal, and the bolt handle is straight with a bulbous end that is knurled. The top of the receiver ring is engraved 'SYSTEM WEINBORNER HANAU A/M'. The system is cocked upon opening. There is an external thumb-piece on the end of the bolt, which operates as a safety by being pushed into the rear face of the bolt when the action is cocked. The bolt may not be turned nor the trigger pulled until this has been drawn back by the thumb.
Half-length stock, the barrel retained by one slide with oval iron escutcheons. Fore-end terminates in black horn cap with curl. Large scroll trigger guard of case-hardened iron, buttplate in same finish with short three-step tang. Cheekrest on left side of butt. Very long small, chequered. Lock and sideplate flats as on a muzzle loader. Sling loops on second rod pipe and underside of butt. Double set triggers.
Full octagonal browned barrel with rib beneath and two pipes for cleaning rod. No external markings. Long bead foresight dovetailed into top of barrel, plain block backsight also dovetailed into barrel
