Physical Description

It is roughly hemispherical in form with a slightly flattened top. It is made of an upper and lower portion brazed around the crown, and also from the crown to the nape. Its lower edge is cut with a pair of vertical slits at the front and at either side of the rear, each of which terminates in a circular hole at its upper end, and has cropped corners at the lower edge. Its lower edge is bordered by thirty three unevenly spaced lining holes (of which one is cut through by the front right slit), above which, at the front is pierced a horizontal, rectangular slot. Between and at a level with the tops of the slits at the right rear is pierced a circular hole, possibly for securing the upturned brim of the hat. Painted black.
